Buying a Monument versus a Funeral Home

You can buy a monument from a monument company. This page does not publish a markup percentage or a savings figure.

A funeral home can help a family order a monument. It is not the only place a monument can be bought. The federal Funeral Rule, as already stated on this site, prohibits a funeral home from requiring you to buy a monument through them and from charging a handling fee for a monument purchased elsewhere.

This page does not publish a markup percentage, and it does not compare a dollar figure from a funeral home with a dollar figure from this store. Those comparisons are not stored here. The price you can check on this site is the price stored on a published listing.

What this store does is on the listing and on the shipping and return pages. You see a design proof before the stone is cut. The finished monument is meant to match that proof. We install nearby or ship free. Shipping to the lower 48 is included. Installation in our service area is described on the shipping page. Outside that service area the stone ships for the cemetery or a local installer to set.

If you already have a quote from a funeral home, set it next to the stored price for the same kind of stone: form, size, granite, and what is included. The two quotes are comparable only when they name the same work. A design call is where this store confirms the price for your cemetery and your design. This article is not that confirmation.
